05:13:06amirighthey....I have a dilemma regarding my AJBR20
05:13:13midkbrb
05:14:32amirightum....earlier this week, I was going to unplug the charger, and didn't realize it was still plugged into my Archos, which dragged it off the table. It hit the ground w/ the charger still plugged in, which snapped the little DC-in input thingie off of the AJBR's circuit board.....
05:14:47amirightit still works perfectly fine
05:15:37amirightbut I now have no way of charging the batteries besides an external charger......so does anyone know how easy it would be to repair an AJBR that's damaged in this fasion?
05:18:54midkback
05:19:16midkhmm
05:19:19midkfaily simple
05:19:22midkfairly*
05:19:51midkyou'd have to take it apart, *possibly* find a replacement dc-in but not likely, then just solder it back in (2 or 3 solder points)
05:20:00amirightum....what if I have absolutely no experience w/ electronics and/or a soldering iron?
05:20:12midkhmm
05:20:24midkpractice on an old pc board?
05:20:27midklol
05:20:33midkas long as you're careful it should be fine
05:20:50amirightfrom what I can tell, there's only 1 solder point....and the DC-in thing is cracked, but only the plastic casing, so I could probably glue it back together and bend the little pin thingie back into place
05:21:23midksure
05:21:27midkif not you'd have to replace it
05:21:38amirightum....I was wondering....does the archos draw any power to charge it at all via the USB connection?
05:22:07midknot the recorders
05:22:11midkthe fm recorders do
05:22:23amirightah
05:26:33amirightI did take my ajbr apart to try to see if I could fix it, and I was able to get the broken parts of the dc-in to come out, but it was buried between two circuit boards that appeared to be fused together
05:26:52midkhmm
05:27:00midki haven't got much experience with the recorders
05:27:04amirightare the solder points that are apparently holding them together necessary or just for the sake of keeping the boards together?
05:27:05amirightah
05:28:39midkdid you check out the mods page
05:28:41midkhttp://rockbox.haxx.se/mods/
05:28:45midkthey have a howto basically
05:29:19amirightyeah, I looked at that to make sure I didn't do something to incredibly stupid while disassembling it
05:29:31amirightbut that shows the jukebox and not the recorder
05:30:18amirightso I figured I'd play it safe and not remove any solder points in case they weren't the same ones depicted in the pictures
05:30:59midkthey should be the same
05:31:02midki know you can get it apart
05:31:27amirighthmm.....how much do you think it would cost to have a professional try to fix it?

22:16:10amiconnHi
22:17:09amiconnI just found a rockbox bug :(
22:18:32diddystar5what is it?
22:19:02amiconnRockbox doesn't like mpeg layer 2 files with higher bitrates (tested 320/384 kbps). It's not that the chip doesn't support them, since the Archos firmware plays them fine. Rockbox "stutters".
22:21:14diddystar5also, im not sure if its a bug or something i did wronge, but when i was working with the vu meter, i did rb->lcd_drawline(0, 10, 112, 10);(or so), there is a always a stray pixle at like 0,15
22:21:22diddystar5rb->lcd_drawline(0, 10, 111, 10);
22:21:25diddystar5works fine
22:22:04diddystar5mp2 playing, never trried playing mp2's but once
22:22:36 Join Nibbler [0] (~nibbler@port-212-202-73-124.reverse.qsc.de)
22:22:47amiconnThis is unfortunately your fault: since the lcd is 112 pixels wide, the coordinates go from 0 to 111, if you use 112, your produce an overflow.
22:23:02amiconn*you produce
22:23:19diddystar5ahh
22:23:28diddystar5ok. isee
22:23:55amiconnI tried mp2 early, but only 160 kbps. These work fine.
22:24:00amiconn*earlier
22:25:48amiconnIt seems that I should try to understand the mpeg playback routines...
