05:35:05General_CrespinG'morning all; Is there a way to modify the default Rockbox WPS?
05:35:09General_CrespinAll I want is to add a background image.
05:36:13scorcheGeneral_Crespin: yes...there is typically a rockbox_default theme packaged that you can edit
05:37:03General_CrespinThe rockbox_default wps and rwps files just have a line that says:
05:37:03General_Crespin# Dummy file to allow Rockbox to reset to the default WPS config.
05:37:03General_Crespin# Do not edit this file. It's never actually loaded by Rockbox.
05:37:45scorcheyou can edit it, but you just have to specify to load that one
05:38:18General_CrespinHow do I edit it?
05:38:19scorchealternatively, you can copy everything in it besides that, rename it, and set a background if you are uncomfortable with simply editing that one
05:38:22General_CrespinI think I'm missing something. =\

07:19:05amiconnscorche: The M5L is the target with the longest battery runtime. The test without backlight and 192kbps mp3 ran for almost 52 hours (51:57)
07:19:56scorcheaye...that is what i said...
07:20:06amiconnNo, you said M5
07:20:20amiconnThe M5L relates to the M5 like the X5L to the X5
07:20:34scorcheyeah...the L must have ran off....sorry
07:21:05amiconnThe L means a secondary battery so the L models have like 2.5x the battery capacity
07:21:21scorchei know what it means, and thought L...just must not have typed it
07:23:13amiconnSo the next-longest running target is the X5L, but due to the extra hardware it only achieves ~75% of the M5L runtime
07:23:41amiconnHmm...
07:24:15scorcheyes...i know all that....as i said, i thought M5L and knew that.....the "L" just escaped my fingers..im sure everyone in here knows about my typos
07:24:19BHSPitMonkeyamiconn, that battery life seems ridiculous
07:24:33scorcheBHSPitMonkey: but it is true
07:24:57BHSPitMonkeyI didn't say I was skeptical of his honesty -.-
07:26:39*amiconn wonders whether we put the fm radio chip to sleep on the X5 when not in use...
07:26:59amiconnIt may be one of the causes why runtime is shorter on X5
07:28:29amiconnIt typically draws a total of 11.5mA when operating, but only 0.06mA in standby
07:29:09amiconnThis is for the philips TEA5767, but since the DA202 is command compatible I would expect similar values for it
07:31:59amiconnThis would explain half of the difference in current consumption between X5 and M5...

11:52:48PaulJam_Slasheri: If you read the logs: it seems as if the fix you committed on 31 Mar 06:49 for the runtimeinfo to not be updated on manual stopping doen't always work. it seems as if "playlist_end" returns true as soon as the last track is fully buffered. So when you stop playback manually near the end of the playlist it still increases the playcount leading to a wrong autoscore.

13:05:26amiconnI now tend to think that using the pcm clock for metronome timing on swcodec might be a better idea
13:06:07amiconn...and keep the timer on hwcodec. In fact the timer should be used in a different way on them.

19:00:12Dimedoyesyes, i was impressed, i didn't update rockbox since end of 2006
19:00:22Dimedoand it's amazing what has been done since then
19:02:19linuxstb_What advantages would there be for putting mp3 in MP4, or supporting anything in Matroska (as opposed to the format's native container).

19:04:59myndzii just updated my build yesterday.. but i can't seem to find the setting to resume playback on startup? can anyone point me in the right direction?
19:05:15linuxstb_PimpdaddyPayne: Is that all the output of the rockboxdev script?
19:05:19markunlinuxstb_: It would be useful if some native containers lack some features (like replaygain or unicode) but maybe that's not the case for any of the codecs we use
19:06:03linuxstb_myndzi: It's now the more flexible "Startup Screen" option. I think it's somewhere like Settings -> General Settings -> System
19:06:10PaulJammyndzi: it's now under general settings - system - startup screen
19:06:21myndzimmk
19:06:35myndzisure is counterintuitive-er now :P (I don't associate "screen" with "playing music" :)
19:06:47myndzibut that's fine, long as i don't have to futz with it every time
19:06:54markunlinuxstb_: can you store replaygain tags in a wma file for example? (if we even support that)
19:06:58PimpdaddyPaynelinuxstb, no, there was more, but i didnt see anything odd... most of it is out of my buffer
19:06:58myndzithanks
19:07:46linuxstb_markun: Just stick an id3v2 tag at the start of the .asf - that's what everyone seems to do with every codec... :)
19:08:15markun:)
19:08:24markunpretty bad
19:08:26PimpdaddyPaynelinuxstb, gonna >> it to a file, and post it
19:09:12linuxstb_PimpdaddyPayne: The first thing to check would be the directories listed at the top of the script - make sure you have write access to them.
19:09:59linuxstb_markun: Better seeking in VBR MP3 files could be a valid reason for using a container...
19:11:44markunit would be nice if codecs wouldn't so tightly coupled to containers (like the case of vorbis + ogg)
19:12:33Nico_Pdoes someone have an idea how much I could sell an H320 with brand new batt and HDD from iriver ?
19:12:39PimpdaddyPaynelinuxstb, ok, rerunning the script again... checked permissions, they are fine...
19:12:46Nico_PI originally bought it for 323 €
19:13:09PimpdaddyPaynelinuxstb, it extracts everything fine... but i noticed that it never generated an arm-elf-gcc exec... but it did general other arm-elf-* executables
19:13:16BHSPitMonkeyNico_P, I bet you could sell it for more with rockbox on it -.-
19:13:30Nico_P:)
19:13:49linuxstb_PimpdaddyPayne: The other arm-elf-* executables will be the binutils. So it seems the binutils is working, but gcc isn't. What OS are you using?
19:14:01PimpdaddyPayneFedora , linux

19:22:18linuxstb_PimpdaddyPayne: You could try installing gcc manually - see the CrossCompiler wiki page. Make sure to use the same −−prefix that the rockboxdev.sh script used for the binutils, and add the location of the arm-elf-* files to your PATH before compiling and installing gcc.
