00:01:40domonokybertrik: maybe there is something in wpseditor which needs Qt 4.4 ?

00:03:43bertrikdomonoky, I don't know, is 4.3.4 already too old?
00:04:46amiconnAre there any opinions on whether we should drop the alt8x8 font?
00:05:50amiconnIt's currently broken (glyph numbering messed up), but even when repairing that it's in no known encoding (only roughly resembling KOI8-R), and it's not usable atm, neither in svn nor in repaired form
00:06:13domonokybertrik: Qt4.4 is pretty new, but for example 4.4 supports more pixel formats for Images.. and i think wpseditor uses one of this new formats (rgb565 i think, like the tragte does)

00:09:34gevaertskrz: here it runs fine on wpses that I know are ok (the ones in the official build), and it segfaults on wpses that are rejected by checkwps
00:10:54bertrikI get ERR: Failed to load image 26 - /home/bertrik/rockbox/wps/cabbiev2.128x128x16/lock-128x128x16.bmp
00:12:37domonokybertrik: you should remove the dimensions when you take a wps from svn, or else the dir name wont fit.. (normally the build system does this for you)
00:13:45domonokyie the wps file should be named cabbiev2.wps ..

01:18:07domonokyand you did update the rom image with the new version ?
01:18:22XavierGrexactly
01:18:35XavierGrin order to do that though you have to start rockbox from disk
01:18:53XavierGrin order to make sure that you are running the new firmwre that you updated
01:19:07XavierGrthen you can boot from what you were booting before
01:20:00XavierGrdomonoky: for an rbutil translation: do you need only the qm file or the ts file too?
01:20:08XavierGr(or do you prefer a patch)
01:21:06domonokyonly the ts is needed.. a patch with all changes would be nice :-)
01:21:44Unhelpfulhrm.... i have a full battery_bench run w/ the gigs_charging patch, and it reads 100% for the whole six-hour run :/
01:22:11XavierGrdomonoky: ok I hope to finish the translation on the weekend, I will let you know
01:22:30domonokyXavierGr: nice..
01:22:42XavierGrUnhelpful: voltages?
01:22:56Unhelpful4113 down to 3620
01:23:11Unhelpfulpresumably the shutoff was hardware, if RB thought the battery was full the whole time
01:23:14XavierGrby gigs_charging patch you mean jhmikes latest charging patch for the Gigabeat S?
01:23:22Unhelpfulindeed
01:23:57Unhelpfulfs#9312, gigs-charging-code.diff
01:24:14XavierGrUnhelpful: I don't think so, the shutoff is triggered by voltage and not percent IIRC

01:24:57_empI found an issue with the build process between rbutilqt and rbspeex
01:25:13XavierGrUnhelpful: your bench at least isn't a waste. You got valid results for voltage
01:25:26domonoky_emp: tell me :-)
01:25:52Unhelpfulanything useful i can do w/ it now?
01:26:04_empdomonoky, I will dump the issue into a pastebin for you. One sec.
01:26:23Unhelpfuli also notice that plugging my won't-turn-on-dead player in immediately puts battery % in the 80-90 range
01:26:24XavierGrUnhelpful: so either battery_bench made something wrong with the percent or jhmikes charging patch did something on it
01:26:55XavierGrUnhelpful: did you set the battery amperage in rockbox settings?
01:27:19XavierGrUnhelpful: can you pastebin the benchmark?
01:28:10Unhelpfulit's @ the default, which iirc is supposed to be correct for a stock gigs, of 700maH
01:29:08Unhelpfulok, there's definitely something fishy, here. battery% goes from 89->100 on unplug.
01:29:14_empdomonoky, http://pastebin.com/d2ea5f081
01:29:31XavierGrUnhelpful: you could update the benchmark with your results on the gigabeatruntime wiki page
01:29:41XavierGrand note about the error on the percentage
01:29:53Unhelpfulexplains the battery_bench, at least. i should see if reverting the charging patch changes that behavior.
01:29:54Unhelpfulwill do
01:30:05_empbrb
01:30:41XavierGrUnhelpful: yeah reverting and testing would be good just to be sure that it's not battery_bench's fault
01:31:48XavierGrUnhelpful: interesting though, I got 6 hours too on default battery on Gigabeat S
01:32:59XavierGrUnhelpful: is yours new? I was pretty dissapointed by my benchmark but my beast was used so I am not sure about its battery
01:33:10domonoky_emp: it should trigger the next rule: librbspeex$(ARCH).a, because ARCH should be empty. But maybe it isnt on your system ? ...
01:33:12XavierGrnow I have a new 1000mAh which I must test at some point

01:43:14toffe82Unhelpful: S30 and S60 board are the same
01:43:52Unhelpfulare they? iirc the SInfo states that only S60 has radio, but i don't know if that would be hardware or firmware difference
01:45:21toffe82I have s30 with radio
01:45:24Unhelpfulthe main point i'm making is that it's all used, and i don't know precisely how old any one component is. and if that 1000mAh replacement is good, i'll want to know where it came from...
01:45:45Unhelpfultoffe82: hrm. GigabeatSInfo wrong, then?

01:54:31Unhelpfulconfirmed, reverting fs#9312 fixes it. w/ fs#9312, battery reads correctly until first plugged in, then always 100% after plugged in. battery debug lists state as "discharging" at first, but then "error" after it's been unplugged.

04:31:03Unhelpfulit's pretty decent, as GUI frameworks for relatively low-level languages go... says somebody who gets uncomfortable any time he's looking at code that's not in python.
04:31:10jac0bdo I have to do anyhting to get the RB bottloader usb mode to work on the gigabeat S?
04:32:49Unhelpfuljac0b: just have the USB plugged in at the right time. if it's plugged in at startup, the bootloader should go to USB mode, and wait until you unplug or eject to try to boot rockbox
04:34:16jac0byeah but I am getting a "file not found" error so I am trying to make sure the .rockbox folder is there
04:34:28_empUnhelpful, so it's not bad?
04:35:11Unhelpful_emp: mostly, no, it's not. if you're used to high-level, dynamic languages, it's probably as comfy as anything for C++ *can* be.
04:36:10_empI typically just stick to ksh, C, and assembler; the only OOP I have messed with is ruby
04:37:28Unhelpfulheh, you might not feel too much at home with it, then.

04:42:21_empUnhelpful, so far that is how it's working out; just have to double check at lot of stuff and check out qt functions.
04:42:50_empQ_OS_MACX is following pretty much the BSD conventions
04:44:13Unhelpfulis there other OS-specific stuff, outside autodetect.cpp? it looks like almost all of the stuff inside is related to mountpoint enumeration. you may even be able to just add a test for Q_OS_OPENBSD to the Q_OS_MACX segments
04:45:16_empUnhelpful, my compile failed with autodetect.cpp, so I'm working through this first, and then I'll worry about the rest.

04:47:24_empkugel, I'm submitting patches as I get stuff to work. I have ipodpatcher working, but it's a hack for now. And I can make fullzip and zip. But I'd like to get rbutilqt working as well. I just don't know qt. I'm using openBSD.

05:03:57Unhelpful_emp: at least within autodetection.cpp, i'd say you probably don't really need to *know* Qt, just tweak the MACX or LINUX versions to fit BSD correctly

05:18:56Unhelpful_emp: very hard to say. C++ allows you to overload operators, so that they can "work" on your classes. if QDir::tempPath() is some sort of stringlike object, it's quite likely that a + -> concatenation operator is implemented.
05:19:44_empthat was my first thought, and I'm looking at the info on qt's website. Not a lot of help: http://doc.trolltech.com/4.3/qdir.html#tempPath
05:22:24Unhelpfulthat's enough help, it returns a QString, and QString supports concatenation w/ char *, returning a new QString, via + operator.
05:23:19Unhelpfuland then a QDir is instantiated from that string, and presumably exists() amounts to "does this object exist"
