00:05:31saratogaI intend to commit his codec related tasks after the release, if other people would look at his plugin related stuff that would be great

00:06:43fmlhello. In manual/platform/iriverh100.tex, the option 'h100' is defined. Shouldn't 'iriverh100' be used instead? The same for other players. Or does the recent renaming not for this options?

00:08:28fmlgevaerts: I'll correct the fractals section in the manual then
00:09:02n1sfml: since you did some work on the instrument tuner plugin, do you have an idea about fs#10635 ? (the plugin records while playback is still playing which works on some targets, was this ever intended?)

08:18:44Unhelpfulhrm, it looks like approximately 20KiB of data could be used to provide reciprocals + fixing factors for >50% of the divisions performed by the ape codec. the table could be stored in iram - the ape codec has about 60KiB of iram free on PP. a single test on the divisor could then determine whether the division can be performed by loading the table values and doing a umull + fixing the result
08:21:27Unhelpfuldivision by this method could be done in about 12-15 cycles, at a rough guess... that's as many as are used to normalize the divisor on armv4 before doing calculating a quotient, so it looks like half of the divisions the codec does could be sped up by a rather large amount

08:50:33pixelmaSpaceghost: the v1 e200 are really a bit limited in their recording capabilities (sample rate is limited to 22.05kHz and no line-in). There are other Rockbox devices that are much better for recordings. I'm mainly thinking about the H300 and H100, the latter even has optical in and out but they are hard to find and quite expensive. I don't know if the v2 e200s have the same limits as the v1 - I guess maybe sample rate is no issue anymore but the

10:00
10:00:32Notschlachterhi there... i have two questions about the rockbox port for the ipod nano 2g.
10:01:32Notschlachterit runs very well but i have two problems
10:02:48Notschlachterwhen i want to copy files with drag and drop to the ipod the transfer stops immediately after i have started it, since the ipod is not in the so called "disc mode".
10:03:11Notschlachterdo i have to start the ipod in disc mode, evertime i want to copy something to it?
10:04:12Notschlachterthe manual says i simply can place them with drag and drop.
10:09:04Notschlachtermy second question is if i can change the items in the main menu of rockbox? is it possible to place a standy option in the main menu?
10:10:05UtchybannNotschlachter: 2nd question: I think nobody have found a way to put the nano2g in sleep mode (as the OFW do).

10:11:54UtchybannNotschlachter: 1st question: do you have the usb logo on screen when plugged ?
10:12:32Notschlachteryes... i think so. there appears the "multimedia mode" when i plug in the usb cable.
10:12:49Notschlachterbut i am not able to copy something to the ipod.
10:13:39Utchybannit is possible to had a menu entry, just edit the code. If you can't code, you have to ask the rockbox dev team to add the feature.
10:13:45Notschlachterhave i made a mistake?
10:14:20UtchybannI think, select+play button is fine to power off my ipod (and it is the way the OFW works).
10:14:27Notschlachteri want to face the challenge of coding if the task is not too difficult. :)
10:14:37Utchybannfor your usb problem, try to disable the usb HID.
10:14:41Notschlachterok
10:14:51Notschlachteri will try it
10:15:06pixelmaisn't "long play" the usual way to turn an Ipod off?
10:15:31pixelmaI mean holding the play button for a little longer
10:15:35Utchybannpixelma: your are right. My mistake. 'long play' is the way.
10:15:43Notschlachterthats the problem Utchybann. my click-wheel seems to be damaged. the play button does not function properly anymore.
10:16:17Notschlachtersometimes i have to press it about a minute before something happens.
10:19:18UtchybannNotschlachter: you have to find the RB shutdown function and just add a menu entry. It should not be to hard.
10:19:56Notschlachterthis would be great. :)
10:20:07Notschlachterwhere can i edit the menu entrys?
10:23:08Notschlachtermay the documentation be helpful with this problem?
10:23:53UtchybannNotschlachter: grep is your friend (is you are using linux).
10:25:01Notschlachterno... i have currently running windows 7 on my PCs.

10:26:58pixelmayou need to check out, edit the code and compile a build yourself (there is documentation in our wiki on how to do this). I *believe* adding the shutdown menu entry isn't too hard as it exists for a target where shutting down with a long press of a button wasn't possible, so I *think* you only need to enable it for the 2nd gen Nano. The button press method is preferred as it is quicker and won't clutter up the menu so the menu entry won't be added
10:26:58pixelma to other targets by default
10:27:40Utchybannsys_poweroff() seems to be the poweroff function.
10:28:54NotschlachterUtchybann: your first tip to turn off usb-hid worked. no i can copy files without problems. :)
10:31:28Notschlachterand the shutdown thing... i will care about it later.

13:26:45Jaykayhi, FS #9794 seems to be fixed now, only h100 and h300 have the -1 error in their manual
13:30:16AlexPJaykay: Is it only the irivers that use -1, have the others all had a release since the error message was changed?
13:32:24AlexPThis is the problem with something like that - changing the manual is trivial, finding the correct info for all targets is harder
13:34:57JaykayAlexP: i don't know which target has which message, but 1 year ago the manual said for every target "-1 error", then it was changed to "file not found" except for h100 and h300 (r20079)
13:38:00AlexPJaykay: OK, good find
13:38:33AlexPI imagine all bootloaders have been changed to that (I'll check), but the h*00 haven't had a new release

14:27:40TelosHey, just popped in to check if Rockbox had been ported to the Fuze v2 yet. Last I checked was in early November, so I'm a little out of the loop.
14:29:50gevaertsno
14:36:58Telosdamn it. This thing's basically useless with it's default ui.
14:39:17TheSevengevaerts: FYI, the problem yesterday was indeed meizu_dfu, not the ipod. No idea whether that's a bug, or caused by my build setup (mingw-gcc and libusb-win32), but using the python (pyusb) version i wrote tonight, it works perfectly
14:39:40gevaertsTheSeven: yes, I saw that in the logs. Weird
14:40:10TheSevenit's definitely caused by 0x1a bytes
14:40:40TheSevenif there is one of them in the file, the first block is sent over and over, instead of the next ones
14:40:59TheSevenneed to check how it behaves when the 0x1a isn't in the first block, but i have to run now
14:41:05TheSevenI'll investigate that later today

17:16:08rasherHello
17:16:09lyon8short question: is there an alarmclock for rockbox? (i'm running rockbox on a sansa e260 v2)
17:17:01AlexPYes where the hardware allows - check the manual
17:17:38pixelmaAlexP: not completely true (irrelevant for his question though I think)
17:17:43funmanlyon8: http://download.rockbox.org/daily/manual/rockbox-sansae200v2/rockbox-buildch5.html#x8-1010005.12 ?
17:18:00AlexPpixelma: In what way?
17:18:47gevaertsfunman: that mentions the sleep timer. Do the AMS sansas have RTC wakeup?
17:19:47AlexPoh, I missed the v2
17:19:47pixelmaAlexP: the coldfire Irivers and the Iaudio X5 and M5 could have alarm too and there is a patch in the tracker for this but it also needs new and changed bootloaders for those (Irivers *were* done but well, broken, with the patch Iaudios were not)
17:19:58AlexPthe H100 can't
17:20:05AlexPnot without a hardware mod anyway
17:20:23pixelmaok, forgot about the RTC
17:20:35lyon8hmm, seem's like the sansa doesn't support it :/
17:20:52pixelmabut H300 could and the two mentioned Iaudios (M3 doesn't have an RTC either I believe)
17:21:31lyon8i also have got an iriver h320 - should try on this one.
17:21:46AlexPlyon8: See what pixelma has just been saying
17:22:22pixelmalyon8: do not try a new bootloader
17:22:26AlexPLooks like fewer targets than I thought have it
17:22:28funmangevaerts: something which would maek the player power on after some time ?
17:22:36gevaertsfunman: yes
17:22:38AlexPfunman: At a specific time
17:22:53AlexPLike an alarm clock
17:22:59lyon8exactely ;)
17:23:04AlexPQuite a few targets have it already
17:23:28lyon8AlexP: for example? the iaudios?
17:23:55funmanI don't know if it's possible, at least it's not implemented
17:23:55AlexPno, see that pixelma just said
17:24:07AlexPSome ipods do, gigabeat IIRC
17:24:24lyon8argl, ok
17:25:04lyon8thanks for your help anyway :)
17:25:13AlexPI would be amazed if it wasn't possible on the e200
17:25:19AlexPv1 or v2
17:25:26AlexPBut it hasn't been done yet
17:25:49lyon8AlexP: yeah, I don't think the original firmware could do it
17:26:05AlexPThat doesn't say much :)
17:26:52funmanAS3525 datasheet mentions a "power up from RTCSUP pin"
17:27:11pixelmaAlexP: I think I read it wasn't possible on the PP Sansas at least
17:27:27AlexPpixelma: Wow, that surprises me
17:27:38pixelmanot sure where :\
17:27:51gevaertslyon8: never ask a simple question here, you might get a complicated answer :)
17:28:02lyon8wouldn't make sense to include the hardware and not use the feature in the original firmware..
17:28:15AlexPThey do that for plenty of things
17:28:28lyon8gevaerts: ok, next time I'll fake knowledge ;)
17:28:32pixelmadear, that pcf50605 (H300, X5, M5) alarm patch is old :/
17:28:38AlexPLook at Rockbox features vs. OF
17:29:15pixelmaand unexpected tuners
17:29:53lyon8AlexP: I don't see too much difference to be honest - except the Ogg/flac support and the games
17:30:04lyon8ok, you got a point with the tuner :D
17:30:05AlexPWell there is
17:30:17AlexPAnd I'm not solely talking about the e200
17:31:00lyon8yeah, you're right...I just wouldn't be surprised if it wasn't possible on the e200
17:31:19lyon8on the h320 rockbox was like the firmware messias ;)

18:55:08kugelfunman: is there a way to insert mode switching to any inline asm?
18:55:56funmanyes but afaik you can't know if the current function is built with thumb or ARM, and you can't tell gcc to force some functions to be built in ARM
18:56:47funmanthe patch on flyspray use a predefined list of files to build with -mthumb -mthumb-interwork (files which don't use inline asm, and which aren't speed critical)
18:57:16kugelwell, the main binary doesn't have much asm, it might be worth to put the mode switching manually to inline asms
18:57:48funmanthe thing is, you don't know if gcc will produce thumb or arm for the function
18:58:04funmanif it produces thumb the assembler will just fail
18:58:19kugelwhy should it produce arm if we instruct it to build for thumb?
18:58:36funmanit won't produce thumb for every function

20:05:12saratoga_you can't
20:05:30saratoga_unless you mean just swapping out the boards inside the device
20:05:55saratoga_if you do that, you basically get whatever was on the old board
20:06:17Willyno I mean just the SD card (internal). Then I would install RB onto the new card.
20:06:44saratoga_the internal memory isn't an SD card, its actually a daughter board
