00:18:02AlexPGiven the way releases generally tend to sneak up on us, and then there are "discussions" about dates etc., I plan to set up a release calendar for the next time round
00:18:18Bagdersounds excellent!
00:18:31AlexPIt won't of course be set in stone, but I think should give us a better idea of what should happen when
00:18:51AlexPSo I guess google calendar would probably work well
00:19:15AlexPIn this vein, are we going to try and get back to a three month cycle?
00:19:45AlexPI'll probably set it up for that, then post to -dev and if it gets decided to change it, we can change the calendar

00:23:48kugelIMO the branch period is mostly a waste of time. if we discourage big commits to make backporting easier we can just as well extend the freeze period
00:26:01AlexPyeah, not much happens in the branch
00:28:02n1si think the most important part is getting some person that is more or less responsible for the relese (call it a release manager if you will) that keeps track of what needs to be done and has the finalt go/nogo say

02:39:45BiontHi all. Before I left off, I was told I need this to be able to compile rb for android using cygwin:
02:40:16S_a_i_n_tyou were told you *might* need that....not that you *were* ;)
02:40:35S_a_i_n_t*would, rather
02:40:53BiontOh there you are^^ well I sure am a noob but it does look like it would solve the problem
02:42:00Biontat least it looks like it would prevent configure from looking for a linux sdk when used by cygwin
02:42:38S_a_i_n_tOnly one way to find out ;)
02:42:42Biontbut then again, I have no clue XD question is: what do I need to do with it?
02:43:48S_a_i_n_tMake sure the file is in your source folder (usually "rockbox), and use the command "patch"
02:44:13S_a_i_n_t"patch -p0 < filename_of_patch_file.patch" should work.
02:44:45S_a_i_n_t(without the quotes, substituting the correct filename)
02:45:54S_a_i_n_tthen compile as normal.
02:47:13Biont"can't find file to patch at input line 3"
02:47:45S_a_i_n_tOk, it was probably geberated with git instead of SVN then...try p1 instead of p0
02:47:55S_a_i_n_t"patch -p1 < filename_of_patch_file.patch" should work.
02:48:39Biontguess that worked

03:12:45S_a_i_n_tthat's how it would look to me, on my patch, but I don't know your folder structure.
03:13:52Biontso where would I add that?
03:14:16S_a_i_n_tusually, in your .bashrc
03:15:18Biontcan I edit it with wordpad or the editor? I heard that could cause problems
03:16:21S_a_i_n_tadd "PATH=cygdrive/c/path_to_home/<username>:" to your .bashrc file, make sure to use an editor that won't muck up the line endings.
03:16:57S_a_i_n_tobviously replacing "path_to_home/<username>" with the correct info.
03:17:34S_a_i_n_tSciTE is a good editor, and won't mess up your line endings.
03:19:30Biontso I just paste it to the end of the file?
03:20:11S_a_i_n_tyep. I'm just guessing this is the problem btw ;)
03:20:33S_a_i_n_thaving the sdk in your path seems like a perfectly sane idea though ;p

08:21:39bertrikJdGordon, do you think the radio RSSI patch ( ) is good enough to be committed?
08:22:01bertrikIt doesn't have the graphic yet, but I think we can commit this first and do the graphic later.
08:23:01bertrikIs there any policy on WPS tags naming? if so, is it OK like it's done in the v11 patch?
08:23:15JdGordonyes, its fine as is (once its in I can fix the skin side pretty quickly)
08:23:45JdGordoncan you add some helpers to give an idea of the RSSI if it is actually usable or not?
08:24:03JdGordonI mean, can the drivers be told "this range would be 1 bar, this 2 bars"
08:24:13JdGordonotherwise its up to percentages which doesnt make sens
08:28:54bertrikNo, I think it is very hard to this for every radio in an objective way (because probably nobody has targets covering all tuner chips).
08:29:16bertrikWe have RSSI_MIN now which represents "no bars" and RSSI_MAX which represents "max bars"

08:29:54JdGordonthemers will have to use %if() to do some meaningful representation?
08:29:58bertrikAnd we could tweak RSSI_MIN up a bit, to mean something like "very weak reception" (RSSI_MAX -> very good reception)
08:30:10JdGordon(i.e if RSSI > X show 1, >Y show 2)
08:31:52bertrikIf was thinking of interpolating it linearly between RSSI_MIN and RSSI_MAX, something like "image index" = "number of images" * (current - min) / (max - min)
08:32:26JdGordonright, but that doesnt really make sense does it?
08:32:58JdGordon1/4 of the rssi range doesnt mean 1 bar

18:40:10soapAlchimysta, considering the most recent work on that plugin is almost a year old, I don't think it is going out on a limb to say it will not compile without some work. So there is very little incentive for someone who hasn't cared enough to already do this to now do it. If you are interested you are much more likely to receive help with your efforts than someone to come out of the blue and do it for you.

21:37:21preglowkugel: what am i looking for?
21:37:40kugelwhat do you mean?
21:37:51kugeldo you see the internal rockbox folder?
21:38:16preglowapp_rockbox/ and lib/ is all i see
21:38:20kugelapp_rockbox/rockbox/ has the unzipped
21:38:30preglowit's got a dir named codecs/
21:38:33preglowwhich is empty :>
21:38:47kugelthat can't be :\
21:39:10kugelthe codecs are loaded from there. you couldn't play music
21:39:23preglowwait a sec, show files reset itself to supported
21:39:43preglowyeah, codecs are here
21:39:50preglowand database.ignore, and viewers.config
21:39:54preglowthat's it for rockbox/
21:40:09pregloworg.rockbox/lib constains and
21:40:13kugeland you can't load them from the sdcard since that's mounted with noexec
21:40:29kugelah ok
21:40:53kugelany themes, wps, fonts directories?
21:41:18preglownah, what i mentioned is it
21:41:35kugelso codecs are being extracted, but the themes not?
21:41:57kugelI have no fking idea what's going on there
21:42:14pregloworg.rockbox/ has app_rockbox/ in it, which contains rockbox/, which contains codecs/* and database.ignore and viewers.config
21:42:18preglowthat's it
21:42:39preglowapart from org.rockbox/lib which contains the usual suspects has clearly more files in it

21:42:51preglowyep, i've opened it to check
21:42:57preglowand also extracted it, for that matter
21:44:01kugelwhat you could do is uninstalling again, but then hooking up adb logcat to see if it reports some error during extraction
21:44:18kugel(upon first start after reinstalling)
21:44:33kugelbut if you got the codecs and on the sdcard it should work fine for now
21:44:52kugelthe codecs is the only thing that must go into the internal rom
21:45:40preglowexplain how to do the adb logcat business and i'm game
21:45:52preglowi have a beer handy in case it gets frustrating :>
21:46:00kugelyou need the sdk, the adb tool is in the tools folder
21:46:07preglowyep, got that
21:46:32preglowneed to enable usb debugging?
21:46:45kugelyou need to you need to execute "adb devices" with root before otherwise it won't see the legend
21:47:57Biontdid I get that right? fonts and themes can be added by putting them into sdcard/rockbox?
21:48:22kugelbefore you start rockbox for the first time do "adb logcat | grep -i Rockbox", then it should print some debug stuff
21:48:34kugelBiont: yes you did
21:48:53kugelbut if you do it won't see the default theme anymore so be careful :)

22:11:37kugelwith launcher pro you can get most of the htc widgets back (but it costs $2). for the rest there are pretty damn good other alternatives
