01:32:44lovasoaHi
01:33:27lovasoaI just posted a new patch, and as advised on the tracker, I come to discuss about it in IRC
01:33:34lovasoaThe patch is http://www.rockbox.org/tracker/task/12079
01:34:35lovasoaNo one ?
01:34:41saratogayou didn't attach the patch
01:35:11lovasoaOops
01:36:36lovasoaI just attached it as a comment
01:36:38saratogai guess i can commit FS #12056 though
01:37:11AlexPlovasoa: Also, it is 01:30 in the morning on Easter Sunday in Europe (where most devs are) - you can't expect an answer in a minute
01:37:12saratogawhats your full name, i'll add you to the credits
01:37:31lovasoaI am in eastern Europe to (France)
01:37:51lovasoaMy full name is Ophir LOJKINE
01:38:19AlexPFrance is west Europe
01:38:35lovasoaBut in #12056 all work was done by Noé LOJKINE
01:39:29lovasoaAlexP: Humm... Maybe You're right... But it's still 1:40 in France
01:39:37AlexPI know
01:39:38saratogaok i will add Noe then
01:39:41AlexPThis was my point
01:43:24lovasoaAnd maybe you can answer me... What is MAX_PATH for ?
01:43:54saratogaugh stupid svn, is "Noel" the proper way to Anglicize Noé?
01:44:09AlexPsaratoga: Why anglicise it?
01:44:13lovasoaI think it would be Noah
01:44:25AlexPI've committed stuff using accents in the message I'm sure
01:44:29saratogabecause SVN freaks out if i try to put that e with the accent
01:44:46AlexPI'd just leave off the accent then
01:45:01CIA-87New commit by saratoga (r29781): Commit FS #12056 by Noe Lojkinse. Fixes a bug in Xobox where old key presses were left on the buffer too long.
01:45:18saratogacrap misspelled the last name
01:45:20***Saving seen data "./dancer.seen"
01:46:04saratogahuh no i didn't, pico added that for me . . .
01:47:41AlexPThe é seems wrong in the file too
01:47:47AlexPWhat encoding are you using?
01:47:58saratogawhatever nano/pico on ubuntu uses
01:48:02CIA-87r29781 build result: All green
01:48:09saratogacan you fix it, i have no idea how
01:48:17AlexPSure
01:48:21gevaertssaratoga: editors should use your default encoding. They don't decide on their own
01:48:36saratogaok then whatever ubuntu uses
01:52:12CIA-87New commit by alex (r29782): Hopefully correct spelling of Noé Lojkine
01:52:28*AlexP points at the accent in the commit message :)
01:52:39*gevaerts applauds :)
01:53:54lovasoaWhen I'll show the credits to my little brother tomorrow, he will be very happy!! Thanks very much
01:54:50AlexPThanks for the patch :)
01:55:08CIA-87r29782 build result: All green
01:56:03lovasoaAs it's nearly 2 on the morning in both eastern and western Europe, I think I have to go to bed...
01:56:28AlexP:)
01:56:34lovasoaThanks and goodbye (and don't forget my other patch)...

08:55:55mgmuscarihi, i'd like to contribute about 10 lines of java code into the rockbox for android codebase, to implement the mind-numbingly simple task of last.fm scrobbling in the android app version. can i just do an svn commit or is there some process that i need to go through?
08:56:32mgmuscarii guess i need to submit it as a patch?

09:16:08mgmuscarihttp://www.rockbox.org/tracker/task/12080
09:16:32mgmuscariit's super simple, but i worry it may not be accepted because i didn't add in any kind of settings checking or support for it
09:18:12mgmuscariunfortunately, while i am familiar with designing android activities and working with them, the native framebuffer UI that rockbox android uses is as yet foreign to me, and i don't have a lot of time to go poking around to get it to work with that. maybe if the mood takes me i'll write an android activity UI for rockbox - i'm sure plenty of people would like to have a more "natural" looking interface on android for it
09:22:40mgmuscarifwiw, rockbox is the only player i've found so far that will actually respect gapless playback with my ogg vorbis music collection on my htc inspire running gingerbread.

12:47:33bertrikyes, I think so too now. On the IAP level, this is basically a mode switch between normal ui mode (where the ipod is in control) and extended interface mode (where the dock is in control). So arriving back into the normal ui mode with playback stopped, makes a lot of sense.

16:33:15iSiDoRoSi saw that it's at last possible to install rockbox on my ipod classic 160gb. is there any progress controling this ipod version through the port interface? (i have my ipod connected at my car's audio system and i want to control it)
16:38:01bertrikiSiDoRoS, vital parts of ipod classic support are still missing for the ipod accessory protocol, like the serial driver
16:38:49clmoealright I still can't get this silly program to work

16:49:22bertrikso, we've had about 77 potential targets so far?

16:49:52pamauryDo we want to take advantage of the fuze+ 24-bit screen or stay 16-bit ?

16:50:31bertrikI'd say go with 16-bit first if that's easier
16:50:37pamaurywhat do it changes ? I think much of the code is using 16-bit per pixel so I don't know how much changes it will imply to switch to 24-bit
16:50:42pamaury*does
16:50:44kugelpamaury: 24-bit would be nice, but you need to write lcd code for it
16:51:01pamauryok, let's stay 16-bit now
16:51:13bertrikI know I became slightly desperate when porting to the samsung yp-s3, thinking it could only do 24-bit
16:52:10pamauryIn my case, I'm pretty sure the lcdif can implement any conversion in the world :)
16:52:41pamauryWell, I see this later
16:52:46bertrikcan the lcd even display 24-bit?
16:52:47kugel24-bit is probably not worth the effort
16:52:56pamaurybertrik: I think so
16:53:10pamauryit's the native format used and sandisk claim a TFT 24-bit displaty
16:53:24B4gdercompanies have claimed 24bit and lied in the past though
16:54:03pamaurythe question is more whether or not one see the difference
16:54:13B4gderyes, that's a very valid question
16:54:24pamauryI'll try :)
16:54:27clmoealright it's out of recovery mode now
16:54:37clmoeit's been doing all of that by itself, btw
16:55:01B4gdermake a full green to no green gradient in 16bit and 24 bit and see if someone can spot the diff
16:55:26B4gderthat'd be 6 vs 8 bits for it
16:55:41B4gderof course, red or blue would make 5 vs 8

22:41:58pixelmabluebrother: may be nice. One thing I think of is that the complete logo's SVG lacks the structure on the "box" part as I didn't find a sensible way to do it in vector graphics, I'd think it would be nice to give a hint through the naming or so
22:46:58bluebrotherright now I have rockbox-clef.svg (used by Rockbox Utility directly, the Android port uses an png export of it), rockbox-icon.svg (the "Rb" icon I've made a while ago, wasn't in svn before) and rockbox-logo.svg which is the "full" one
22:47:36bluebrotherthe "Rb" one is used in the Rockbox Utility icon, but that uses a version that is based on the original png so has the box "structure" thingy

23:30:00kugelwodz: what about e200v1?
23:31:01wodzisn't it pp without any documentation?
23:32:20kugelAMS is also undocumented for the SD part AFAIK
23:32:31kugelbut e200v1 sems to be the most robust one

23:42:33Luca_Shello everybody. I've been testing the reworked playback engine patch and noticed something strange, however i'm not sure if it's present in svn too.

23:43:04bertrikand AMSv1 uses a standard PL180 block IIRC
23:43:36pixelmabluebrother: I wouldn't mind testing the Utility but not today anymore and I also didn't try it for a while so didn't see the problem myself (my PC here is also only hyperthreading I believe and not multi-core so I don't know if I would experience it - maybe I could compare with the current release later)
23:43:41Luca_Si set up a playlist with a few songs, then started playback, skipped two or three songs, then entered in the playlist menu and moved a song that was after the currently playing one to before the current playing one

23:44:43pixelmaLuca_S: what happened?
23:44:53Luca_Swhen I did that, the 'now playing' indicator (the one with the two notes), did not move and pointed to the wrong song
23:45:20Luca_Sit's as if it kept the same index as before
23:45:46***Saving seen data "./dancer.seen"
23:46:02pixelmaI know there were a lot of quirks with this "live moving" and its display before so maybe the new engine made workarounds unnecessary or so. Would be nice if you could test an SVN build in comparison though
23:46:05Luca_S(i am talking about the 'now playing' indicator refers in the playlist menu)

23:47:21Luca_Swill do tomorrow :) now it's late and gonna get some sleep :) however I let it play for a few hours, skipping and creating playlist and all worked fine
23:47:47Luca_Salso some issues I had with metadata display in wps seem gone
23:48:01Luca_Ss/metadata display/metadata refresh
23:48:16tbruff13Hello I was wondering how to make a coby mp3 player use rockbox I am not trying to skip out on work I will do what I can, but I simply do not have the programming skill to do it so I am asking for help I know you guys don't take requests so please don't get mad at me for asking i'm tried to buy a compatible player, but alas messed up and got a coby I would like to know if anyone could at least get me started on porting for my player or brand of playe
23:48:16tbruff13rs I will admit I have very little programing experience so can someone please help me
23:48:59tbruff13I am willing to do the work I just need to figure out how
23:49:06wodztbruff13: I am afraid you are on your own
23:49:24AlexPtbruff13: We don't take requests, no. Ports are done by interested owners - your best chance is to try and find some other owners with the skills and get them interested
23:49:41AlexPtbruff13: People here will of course help, but we aren't going to teach you programming
23:50:04AlexPtbruff13: See www.rockbox.org/wiki/NewPort for the sort of thing you will have to be doing
23:50:42pixelmaLuca_S: jhMikeS (the main developer behind the new engine) is probably interested in your reports too but doesn't seem to be around currently
23:51:44pixelmaleaving a comment in the tracker would be another possibility ;)
23:52:15tbruff13AlexP, I know and I was stupid to ask but at least tell me this is it possible to get rockbox working on a coby, and If it is i will work on getting support
23:52:32AlexPIt might be
23:52:38AlexPCan you upgrade the firmware?
