02:36:35GaranikIs it possible to get Rockbox to shuffle by album?
02:37:34gevaertsYes and no
02:37:57GaranikCould you clarify that?
02:38:00Garanikplease.

02:38:39gevaertsThere's "random folder advance", with its corresponding configuration plugin
02:39:16gevaertsIf you have your music organised with a directory per album, that should do what you want
02:40:06GaranikAlright, thanks for the advice

02:41:28GaranikIs it similar to the way "album shuffle" works on foobar?
02:41:44*gevaerts has *no* idea
02:41:54GaranikThat's fair

04:35:28alexbobpdoes rockbox know when I connect and disconnect headphones?
04:36:41[Saint]Depends on the target.
04:36:49[Saint]But, generally speaking, yes.
04:37:40[Saint]Settings -> Playback settings -> pause on headphone unplug
04:38:16[Saint]If that settings exists, then your target supports it. If it doesn't, your target either doesn't support it or we don't know how to poke the right bits.
04:42:19alexbobpahh that's exactly the feature I was going to ask about :P
04:42:27alexbobpI guess it's not common on sansa devices since I've never seen it
04:44:15[Saint]That probably has a little to do with Sansa being absolutely terrible at writing firmware. :)
04:45:18alexbobpoh yeah... that they are
04:45:28alexbobpis this normally found by reverse engineering how the stock firmware does it?
04:46:15alexbobpit's too bad... for the clipzip I have no issues anyways but on the fuze+ that feature would be great
04:46:23[Saint]I have little to no idea about lowlevel hardware.
04:47:17[Saint]But, yes, disassembly plays a large role in some ports.

10:38:51[Saint]If you're brave enough, and if the internal storage is still accessible, there's http://www.rockbox.org/wiki/SansaAMSUnbrick
10:39:05[Saint]But the process is by no means a guarantee.
10:39:51[Saint]The "bingo" mode is if you manage to expose the FW partition, which from ememory is ~900MB or so

10:41:27[Saint]From that state it may not be possible to restore the OF without a dump from a working device, but it _should_ be possible to restore Rockbox booting *IFF* the recovery partition (probably not actually a recovery partition, but I'll call it this) can be exposed.
10:42:10[Saint](there seems to be some magic the OF needs that resides here that simply dd'ing in a firmware doesn't cover)
10:42:51Zob-yeah thats fine i dont care about the OF

13:23:30toehserZob- I don't think Zip normally has a partition table, just the filesystem smack onto the raw device. You should be able to just put the OF files back. There have been threads where people have done that successfully. I think every few months, someone gets a refurbished one that has the wrong firmware image and has to do it.

19:13:06wookeyIs it correct that rockbox does not support .flv audio (as supplied by BBC podcasts)?
19:14:14wookeyIt seems to support every format I've ever heard of apart from this one. Is there a technical reason? It's quite a common format. (I guess .flv is a container format, strictly speaking)
19:15:12ZincAlloyrockbox supports mostly audio formats. flv is flash video
19:16:39wookeyright but it has audio channels, and can be used to deliver audio (as the BBC do)
19:17:31wookey(somewhat annoyingly)
19:24:26wookeyavconv -i "$1" -c copy -vn "${filebase}.aac" converts it. Just need to work out how to do that to downloads automatically

22:37:33pamaurycramler: I've just committed the off button fix
22:39:21saratogakugel: (looking at the logs) being able to grow the audio buffer is potentially very interesting, I have wanted to shrink it for quite a while to reclaim memory as very few codecs needs nearly as much as we give them
22:40:57saratogaif you haven't seen this, http://www.rockbox.org/wiki/CodecMemoryUsage
22:42:42kugelsaratoga: have you seen my talk about a 64bit issue with our libmad
22:42:54saratogakugel: no i haven't, what is the issue?
22:42:57saratogasomething I broke?
22:43:03kugeldon't know

22:43:28kugelfor some files the sound is heavily distorted, especially on lower parts of the spectrum
22:43:34saratogadoesn't warble compile as 64 bit on a 64 bit machine?
22:43:46saratogai've run libmad many times on my 64 bit desktop
22:44:28kugelthen you listen to the wrong music :)
22:45:03saratogai'm pretty sure i had it checksumming output at one point
22:45:22saratogalet me fire up a VM
22:45:23kugeli have a few files (out of 100s where I can't spot a problem) where it's pretty obvious
22:48:09kugeli compared (by listening) upstream vlc vlibmad v rockbox ARM (with asm opt) v rockbox ARM (without asm opt) v rockbox x86 v rockbox x86_64
22:48:30kugelonly the latter shows the problem
22:49:14kugelthe problem also dates back to 3.0 sims (the earliest where mpa.codec didnt segfault)

22:56:34gevaertsNo such file or directory
22:59:19cramlerpamaury: Thank you, will pull when I come home.
22:59:19cramlerI tested with an old version of the file yesterday.

23:06:25saratogakugel: warble and foobar give me identical output to ~15 bits on a 64 bit PC
23:06:38saratogais warble somehow compiled in 32 bit mode?
23:06:52kugelhow do you test?
23:09:12saratogai decoded our 128k mp3 test track from the download server to wav, then decoded the same file in foobar
23:09:18saratogathen i plotted the error vs. time

23:13:58saratogais there some way to force 64 bit?
23:14:37kugelsaratoga: not sure but i dont see how it could possiby default to 32bit
23:14:56kugeldo "file warble.sdlapp" to be sure the output is 64bit
23:14:59saratogaubuntu@ubuntu-VirtualBox:~/Desktop/rockbox/warble$ file warble.sdlapp warble.sdlapp: ELF 32-bit LSB executable, Intel 80386, version 1 (SYSV), dynamically linked (uses shared libs), for GNU/Linux 2.6.24,

23:15:37kugelis your VM 32bit by chance?
23:15:42gevaertsBuilding a fresh warble gives me a 64 bit one
23:15:58saratogais our dev image 32 bit? how do I check?
23:17:06saratogabah, i686 which i guess is 32 bit
23:17:12gevaertsIt is, yes
23:17:28saratogaso i need to setup a 64 bit virtual machine to even test this
23:26:51saratogajust grepping it, i see some int use that might be questionable
