Isn't it somehow possible to decide which translation table to take at
runtime (the original firmware obviously does, doesn't it?)... Maybe you
can take the assembler code from the original file where it decides what
table to take.

Ok, here's an updated version of the tar package, containing code for
handling
both old and new versions.

I've made it a compile-time choice. Us poor people with units older than
4.50
(apparently a minority) will have to #define OLD_ROM in main.c.
