(using a Linux 2.4.18 kernel)

$ mount /dev/sda1 /mnt/archos
$ cd /mnt/archos/[DIR]/
$ ls
[shows ~34 directories]
$ touch a
$ rm
rm: remove `a'? y
$ ls -l
total 560
drwxr-xr-x 2 root root 16384 Mar 26 19:28 yada yada
drwxr-xr-x 2 root root 16384 Mar 26 19:28 yada yada2
...
$ touch a
touch: a: Read-only file system

This seems to be fully repeatable and it is highly annoying... Anyone with a
good idea on how I proceed to track this down?
