Well, I can abstract the abstraction, I guess... I am nowhere near
proficient enough with C to attempt writing an API. What I can do is give
the developers a feature-by-feature roadmap of what we (the Rockbox
community) want the UI to look/act/feel like, which should make the task of
creating said API much easier.

What would be REALLY cool would be to abstract the UI into a defined API so
it can be pulled out and replaced if people want, kinda like a limited
version of 'skining up' WinAmp

Looking at the code, it looks like the menus are already done like this...
