Except some stupid features (like the complete reading of a playlist, which
can take ages to load and limit the list to 999 songs) it's almost bug free
(batteries charged, no freeze...). I'm gonna compare Rockbox new features
and this 5.08. Unfortunately it's unavailable for download...

speaking of 5.08, where can I get it? the archos website only has 5.07a and
I would like to try the newer version and see how it compares as far as
stability goes to rockbox.

Yes.

Since your 5.08 firmware is in ROM, just remove the Rockbox file and you
will go back to 5.08.
