So do I. I got frustrated enough with it that I wrote the program to
do it for me. A simple:

DevEject "USB Storage Adapter V2"

Will "Unplug/Eject" my archos from Win2k without having to use the
mouse and the system tray. I have only tested it under win2k (only
version of windows I have access to), so YMMV with other versions.
