Hm... Why didn't you use my patch from August 25 (http://rockbox.haxx.se/mail/archive/rockbox-archive-2002-08/0964.shtml)? It generalizes the battery status updates, using the same code for both recorders and players. Now there's two copies of essentially the same code (implemented in different ways)...
