I've another idea: Add a line right of the square to show how full the
buffer is. :-)

Buffer filled right now: [ X---- ]
buffer filled half [ X-- ]
buffer almost empty [ X ]
buffer filled again [ X---- ]

(The line width should represent the length of the music in the
buffer.)
