Hi,
many thanks to all rockbox developer. I'm fascinate.

My English is horrible, sorry.

I have the following Jukebox:
Recorder 20
debug->View HW info:
   ROM: 1.28
   Mask 0x0302
   USB: Positive
   ATA: 0x200
   PR: positive
   Freq: 11.0592Mhz

and the archos20021112.ajz firmware (no home build).

I connect my Analog Audio Source to the line In Connector on my JB.

here's what I found:
1. Booting the 20021112 Firmware
2. Switch to Line In (Recording settings->Source -> to Line In)
3. Starting the Recording "Menu" (Recording)
4. Selected is not the line In but the Microphone.
5. I press F3 and press F3 again, now the line in is selected. peak meter is
working and I can listen the Audio Input on headphone

6. Now I press the play button -> JB is recording
7. Record circa 3 minutes.
8. I press the off button
9. I press the off button again
10. Now I can listen RECORD.MP3
Next Record:
Recording
Selected is again the Microphone
F3 F3 -> Selected is Line IN
Recording worked again

Next Record:
Recording
Selected is again the Microphone
I Press Not f3!
I press Play for Recording, peak meter is definite
after few Second Timeout: 0

Reboot 20021112 Firmware
record
Microphone is selected
now i select mic again
channel 0 (left) is mic again, mic monitor only on left and right headphone
channel 1 is line in (on peak meter only not on headphone) ,

now record (mode is Stereo)
and play it, left and right played the record from mic

now i press f3 f3 in recording menu
record again
repeat, repeat

now with no f3 f3 peak meter is definite
and no nothing no msg Timeout: 0, but system is definite

to repair "the f3 f3 workaround"
mpeg_set_recording_options(global_settings.rec_frequency,....
in start of recording_screen, the input is switched correct...
but the second record ..... peak meter is definite .... system is definite

                     -1.-5 dB this is not beautiful
                      0.0 dB
                       1.5 dB

Now with archos 1.27d sone tests with microphone
I select microphone peak meter worked right and left
headphone presents the mic right and left
