But with the pace of development of these new products, I reckon the AJB
will be obsolete within a year. What happens to RockBox then?

I totally agree, but they can make it incredibly difficult if they choose
to.

I totally agree again. I had been meaning to learn about unix development
for ages, and RockBox finally gave me a reason to do so.

What I would like to see is Archos releasing the hardware details of their
new devices so that RockBox can easily run on them. The only way they will
do that is if RockBox can proove to them that it is worthy.

I would really like to get a MMJB, but having already been a customer of
theirs with my AJBR20, I won't be going there. Their software and support
leave a lot to be desired. As someone said earlier "I'd rather buy from a
proper company".

I also bought my AJBR20 as a direct result of RockBox. I was doing some
research and found RockBox a good 6 months before I finally bought it. I
probably would have got an iPod if it wasn't for RockBox.

I really hope Archos start to realise the potential of their products, and
the limitations of their in-house software. I guess the shipping of RockBox
with players is a good first step towards this. It is rare for a company to
acknowedge a bunch of hackers in this way, lets just hope they take it
further and provide some hardware support.

Keep up the good work BoxRockers!

Stu.
