Charging is started when
- the calculated battery level is < 10% (when deep discharge on)
- or the battery voltage is < BATTERY_LEVEL_DANGEROUS (aka 4,75V)

These conditions are tested once per minute. Maybe the voltage went down
too quick (because of bad batteries)? I've never had this problem (even
if my hdd gets hot). Can you reproduce it? What happens if you turn
"deep discharge off"?
