That seems feasible. Very good Idea. Learning remotes should work by
measuring and storing time between all transitions, just like the UIR does.
I also have some of these IR sensors. But I dont have an archos remote. :-(

Still need batteries to power the sensor, but it should be much less power
consuming than a microcontroller.

When will you try?
