I disagree (of course). It's very unlogic to press PLAY to enter a config
setting and then pressing STOP to select the new value.

At least with my player I have changed settings by misstake and been
confused of what the original setting were (not impossible to guess).

Well, if I would implement that pressing PLAY would cancel the new value then
it would work the old (your) way, and I would have the cancel opportunity. But
then you really would have bug reports :-)

Having PLAY/MENU selecting the value and STOP cancel the value would in my
view be the best solution then.

...the Record owners can continue to live in the darkness :-) I'm in for a
better Player...
