I have to agree about using the line in, but here is my experience with the
cassette adapter.
With some cassette decks you have to do something special to use an adapter.
In one of my past cars I had to hold down one of the buttons when i inserted
the adapter. It was documented in the car's manual under the radio
listing(it was the stock radio).
Also, if you can find it(I don't remember where I got mine), my Sony adapter
has a 5 position switch on it that moves the head a tiny bit with each
setting and I actually can improve the quality that way as I can adjust it
to better line up with the head. The setting varies with each vehicle and I
am very happy I am able to do this.
I have used adapters that didn't line up with the head closely enough and
were reversed back and forth like is happening with yours.(I was always able
to get them to work by jamming my fingers in the slot and wiggling the
adapter around til the head lined up but the sound was awful and that is
probably not too good for the player). I could also usually improve sound a
little by doing the same thing and trying to line the head up better but the
one I have now with the settings is a much better solution.
I wish someone would make a cd adapter already.
