Date: Sat, 29 Mar 2003 13:18:47 +0100 (MET) this is a good idea, but: - who on this list has such drive (or wants to buy one) ? - how can the owners of such drive test, if the cache is possibly invalidated (or not) when entering sleep mode. perhaps there is a "special" mode on that drives, which has to be set, that the cache won`t get invalidated? If such drive really exists and rockbox would support that - i would throw out my actual hdd and buy a now one - in a hurry :) regards roland --- Weitergeleitete Nachricht / Forwarded Message --- Date: 28 Mar 2003 19:16:41 +0000 From: Joaquim Carvalho <jdc_at_x64.com> To: rockbox_at_cool.haxx.se Subject: Re: harddrive cache + 8mb memory upgrade > On Wed, 2003-03-26 at 08:14, Björn Stenberg wrote: > > jdc wrote: > > > Do both sleep modes invalidate the cache? > > > > As far as I know, yes. > > > > However, the cache behaviour is not specified in the ATA specification > so different brands might handle this differently. > > It would be a good idea investigate this, there are > some drives with 16Mb caches which is 8 times the > jukebox RAM.
