I'm going to guess that this is not possible due to hardware limitations.
But it never hurts to ask.

My car's cigarette lighter goes on and off with the ignition. Would it be
at all possible for Rockbox to have a mode in which when the power from the
adapter is removed, it shuts down (or pauses) the unit? And would it then
be possible for it to know when the power comes back, and turn it back on
and resume automatically? This could be part of a "car mode" setting that
you'd be able to easily toggle on and off thanks to the nice .cfg system.

I know, tall order, probably can't be done. Or can it? :)
