Have you tried cleaning all the plugs etc?

  Maybe I am just unlucky, but it seems strange it works fine with archos firmware but not rockbox. There is a signal from the rockbox as it can be converted and amplified to optical and then it is audioable, so it leads me to think that rockbox gives of a weaker signal and as I am using a portable DAC + amp running of 12v it probably needs something stronger than you would need for a home stereo with digital in.

    I've been having a problem with digital out with Rockbox. With the archos firmware I can connect my archos to my amp (with digital in) and it works fine. However with Rockbox I hear nothing though if I convert it to optical I hear sound. The converter also amplifies the signal, so I am wondering if the rockbox signal is less than that from the original firmware. Appreciate any help as I prefer the Rockbox firmware but it is important to be able to connect the archos via the digital out.
