Yes. I was just as shocked. I was getting 8hrs on the average. (with v1
28)

The only thing that I can think of that could be causing it, is that rockbox
may not be reporting it correctly. Here is why:

I had just fully charged the archos v1.28, to 100%. Then I loaded the
rockbox software. After it was loaded, rockbox reported only a 10% charge.
So I recharged with rockbox back to 100%. Ever since then I have only been
getting the 3-4 hours of battery time. And after the first hour it drops to
like 70-80%.

So just for kicks, I decided to try it again. I took off rockbox, recharged
archos 1.28 to 100% and I got 7-8 hours again. Then I recharged again to
100% and loaded rockbox on it again. Once again it only reported 10%
charged and so i recharged and still only got 3-4 hours of play time.

So either rockbox is not computing the battery correctly or it is just
drainng awfully quick. The thing is, I love all the features that rockbox
has and will probably live with the reduced time., I did go out and buy the
car adapter. That is where I listen to it, while driving to and from work
everyday. I have a 2 hour round trip. that is how I can measure the time.

Any thoughts ??

I don't see that with my AJBR20.

When you boot the Archos firmware, you still get 8-9 hours?

If you refer to the "battery patch": no, this implements a different
way to display the battery level and charging state when USB is
connected.
