I had a lot of problems with USB on winXP: can't make my scanner work
properly, neither my alcatel ADSL modem. The problem was coming from
assignemnts of IRQ by the ACPI of WINXP. When I deactivated the ACPI,
windows has rebooted aad reconfigured all my hardware, and after a final
reboot, evrey thing was working fine.
