winamp (version 2; i don't use version 3).

preferences -> output plugins -> waveout -> configure -> "buffer-ahead on
track change"

increase that slider if you're hearing gaps between tracks.

the directsound output plugin has similar adjustments, but i have a
high-end pro audio sound card which doesn't have directsound support.
