Subject: RE: Continuous playback
From: Andreas Stemmer (Andreas.Stemmer_at_web.de)

Ok, here are some links:

documentation on lame options:
http://lame.sourceforge.net/
but there's no info about the nogap-option. I remember from somewhere
that the nogap option only works, if you pass all the single wav-files
together to lame, not each wav-file seperately as EAC does.

Good tutorials on EAC and LAME setup:
http://mp3.radified.com/
http://www.ping.be/satcp/tutorials.htm

A very good description of LAME settings and what is necessary, extra
chapter about live recordings:
http://www.r3mix.net/
(It was offline when I wrote this, I don't know if it comes back)

The tools I mentioned:
split the large mp3 according to the cue sheets:
http://musicutter.host.sk/
(Cue sheets are simple text files with information about the track names
and when the tracks start)

I think MP3DirectCut also does this, but I never tried
http://www.rz.uni-frankfurt.de/~pesch/
fix the vbr-header if seek information got lost:
http://www.willwap.co.uk/Programs/vbrfix.html

There is a tool called MP3TagStudio which is very powerful in correcting
MP3s. It also claims to be able to cut off the silence at the beginning
and at the end of MP3s. Perhaps this is enough for you to modify your
existing files. I didn't try, if it works, new encoding was faster for
me.

For detailed information on vbr headers, a search on Google or Linus :-)
should give you lot's of information.
