Not that I know. But I still think it's a good idea worth implementing.

Yes. I imagine we simply store a couple of copies of the settings struct, or perhaps config blocks to save memory.

Yes, both have been discussed and I think both are good. Actually, I think we should have three types of auto-loaded .cfg files:

1) mp3-specific, called trackname.cfg
2) m3u-specific, called playlist.cfg
3) dir-specific, called _default.cfg or some such

I think both of these would be more elegantly solved with a playlist.cfg.
