My JBR FM20 (blue bumpers) only has tiny philips screws on
*BOTTOM* side (to access the ribbon connector attached to
the drive). The battery cover plate (on *TOP* side) can be
removed without a screwdriver: lift top cover with finger
to unlatch the battery cover plate, the plate will pivot
out from bottom because of springs pressing against battery,
pull plate up and out. If you pull the battery out make a
note of its orientation.

drive abuse: I've dropped my unit a few times already
and it seems to have survived. I've also recorded a
few retro techno shows with the Archos sitting on top
of a vibrating/bouncing stage - only a few lost frames,
perhaps because of the bouncing or because I was trying
to record at maximum quality setting (7) vs normal (5).
The playback was ok on JBR but other players would fail.
Every once in a while I get "Panic recwrt -4222" while
recording my favorite late night radio show, I just run
a thorough scandisk afterwards to check for bad sectors.
