I personally rarely see the Red LED Dead bug, but I usually see the
silent play bug a few times each day during my commute. I will give
this a try during my commute tomorrow.

It's been very quiet on the RedLedDead front lately. Is nobody seeing
this problem anymore? Are have you simply given up hope we'll ever get
it fixed? ;)

If anyone can reliably repeat the condition, please try this new
recorder test firmware:
  http://rockbox.haxx.se/test/usleep.ajz

It addresses a possible timing problem in the ata code.
