Sounds like a problem with your battery or charger. I would try to get an
exchange if it were mine and under warranty. I've heard that Archos
offers a lifetime warranty on the FMR battery, even if the rest of the
warranty is expired.

Since it's an FMR, options are limited as far as replacing the batteries
yourself. There has been some discussion before about this. Apparently
the battery is proprietary, and the only way to get it replaced is to send
the whole unit back to Archos, (or exchange the unit it at the store, if
they will do that.)

You might try testing the voltage output of your charger, to rule out that
as a problem.
