It seems that my slow USB connection was due to a problem with the Archos
USB cable which came up just at the same time as I flashed my jukebox. So I
of course first thought that the new rokbox version was the error and never
thought about a cable problem occuring at just the same time :-(
USB works now again with a new cable.
I'm sorry about the confusion which I might have started here.
