But if we put teh Archos into read only mode, we won't get all those proprietary, non-standard Microsoft WM/ id3 tags added to our MP3s whenever we play tracks using the Windows Media Player.

Oh. Wait. You mean that's /not/ a feature?

In case my sarcasm was not clear, I think a read-only USB would be a good thing, but I'd also want a way to override it easily when it was on my home PC. (A button press at the USB screen?)

And as I've mentioned before, I'd like a USB mode that only sucks power from the host USB, without going into USB mode and without allowing the host to even see the drive.

As long as I'm asking for all manner of things, is there a way to unmount on a Windows machine that doesn't involve clicking with the mouse on an icon in the systray? Often I'd like a command I could type in bash/cygwin.
