Subject: Re: an idea/suggestion

It seems to me that the JBR should be able to play a pre-recorded MP3 of a
setting, like, "record", or "browse" without having to handle another MP3.
It would mean that the button would need to be pressed a second time to
cause the action to occur.

As far as reading the file names, there are programs which will read text
from a file, and turn it into an MP3 file. You can even take a file list
and copy it into the clipboard and enter tags which will cause the program
to make a separate MP3 file each time it sees a specific string of text.
So we would have hundreds of little MP3 files in the folder with our songs,
but I don't know how we will make the unit read the associated MP3 when it
is on the file we want to play. But I could imagine using the play/pause
button to be set for 3 functions instead of 2; read the tag file, play,
pause.
Or I wonder if the smallest known synthetic speech engine would fit into the
O S? this would be fast because it would not rely on the hard drive
spinning, and even the sighted would enjoy operating their JBR at times
without having to read the display, like while driving.

Glenn.

As it currently stands we can only play ONE MP3 at a time.
There is currntly no .WAV support.
Improvements will only really be possible in this area if we get help
obtaining the SDK for audio decoder chip. So far we have had no success in
obtaining this information. I've come close on a couple of occasions, but
still not scored that inimitable goal.
