Maybe it would take the 8MB chip transplant to make synthetic speech work
well.

This, like many other neat sound hacks, falls on the fact that we can only
mpeg audio streams. So in addition to syntesizing speech, we would have to
mp3-encode it too before playing it. And then it's not so fast any more. :-)
