Yes, this was my belief as well. I will attempt to charge it using
flashed rockbox again tonight (the batteries are full at the moment, but
some USB activity should fix that... :)

Yes, I've noticed that the initial power level is usually quite far from
reality. But then that probably didn't play a large part in this
specific problem, as the player ran out of batteries quite soon,
pointing to a charge problem.

Thanks for the reply, and I'll try to get the debugging information
tonight.
