Should be noted that the 2100mah Eveready cells I mention for "cheap" from
WalMart are manufactured by Sanyo.
As to the battery vs. cell issue, it's as much a matter of convenience as
anything else. Automotive batteries are truly batteries, consisting of
several cells. Some notebook batteries are a single cell and some are
batteries, but given the packaging, who can tell? And, it could be said
that one "creates" a battery when they put multiple cells in a device like
In any case, one has to admit that "cell" has enough definitions to create
confusion when speaking in general terms without specifying "electro
chemical cell" and "battery" used in most contexts will be more readily
understood, since it's application in this case is not likely to be
confused with "the act of beating", "a set of guns or artillery", "a
baseball pitcher and catcher" or "the percussion section of an orchestra".
