Or in this case, be highly counterproductive. Let's assume 500 people care
enough to click on the petition and those 500 sigs are sent to Archos. From
their perspective, they look on one had at maybe 100,000 people using their
firmware and on the other hand 500 people are unhappy with it. Easy decision.
Right now there are a number of people pestering Archos to change. It can be
a fair assumption that these people represent a larger but undefined body of
users. It would be foolhardy to quantify how large or small that body is.
I have worked as a campaign staffer for a couple of politicos and the pecking
order was the same in each camp. In order of importance of getting the
attention of the boss are the following:
Hand written letters.
Typed letters (with the feel of the typewriter on the paper)
Individually written, computer printed letters
phone calls expressing personal views
phone calls reciting prepared verbiage
paper petitions, unless containing thousands of sigs.
They didn't exist when I was involved but I bet online petitions rank below
