I don't know from personal experience, but I know there were the
difficulties with Rockbox working on V2, and I would want to be able to
remove and use a second set of batteries. The 500277 model does have USB2.
I do not know what other reasons Björn had for pointing me towards this
version vs. the newer V2 that you got.

Maybe others can say more.
