What does '...to have a short fixed' mean?
I don't know what they did but I think 110$ is a lot of money.

Well, Linus thinks it a short: a short-circuit somewhere on the circuit
board or the board's connection to the chassis.

The cost to fix (by newmp3technology.com) was $100, postage and insurance
was $9.05.

Basically, I don't solder, and I didn't want to learn on my Archos. ;)
