if we could download the whole ML archive as a flat file
and do a well-crafted "grep" over that - probably YES :D

OTOH, i hardly can`t remember that there were incompatible
2.5" ide hdd`s which failed to work inside archos jb. does
somebody remember, if there where such?

so - do we really need a HCL?
perhaps it would be better to do a HIL (Hardware Incompatibility List)
