Just remember what the NEWKEYS document said - there will be no more "quick
screens":

Yes, I like "quick screens" too, but I understand the direction the core
developers are taking. Quick screens limit us to 3 options, whereas having
a user configurable menu on F2 is more extensible. F3 will be the old
"On-Play" context menu.

Regarding the F2/F3 comments, I want to seperate the buttons from their
actions in the long term. This would make anything possible (within
reason). Give me a few months though!
