Rockbox mail archiveSubject: AW: Playing a directly from Archos disk or copied to disk hangs in the middle - plays correct on the Recorder itself. From: Rainer Stengele (rainer_at_diplan.de) Date: 2004-02-06
Why then can I transfer lots of MP3 files to Archos without problems? I don't believe it's the cable.
Anybody else has a clue maybe?
I can play all MP3 files directly on my archos but they hang somewhere (for example after 30 minutes) no matter if I copy the file to my PC or hear it directly being connected by USB 2.0 to the Archos.
I am desperate. This means I have to extract my harddisk and connect it externally to get the files ...?
Could the USB part of the Archos be erroneous.
Rockbox runs perfectly.
What can I do?

... not sure, but I had a somewhat similar problem using an USB key on my personal PC (nForce2 chipset), files were randomly corrupted when copied from or to the key...
The solution was to use shielded (ie. good quality) cables to connect my usb front panel instead of the ultra-thin wires provided.
Good luck

Hi!
ARCHOS Recorder 20
Rockbox 2.1
I can play a 100 MB record directly on my Archos.
Copying it to disk or trying to hear the MP3 over USB disc access the playing hangs after about 30 minutes.
I have several files where this happens.
Roundabout half of the files is ok, the rest hangs after starting to play ok.
I already did a chkdsk of the disk - no problems found.
Loading the MP3 in Audacity I see the file stops showing MP3 frames somewhere in the middle.
I am not therefore not able to hear the copied files on my PC.
What could it be?
Rainer
