The English saying is "give him an inch and he takes a yard". The literal translation to metric doesn't have as good of a ring, however ;-).

Incidentally, my pet peeve over here is the literal translations on measurements on marketing documents: a classic is Estes rockets that go "approximately 600 feet in the air (182.88 meters)". OK, if it is _approximately_ 600 feet, why is it _exactly_ 182.88 meters???? If that marketing bonehead had taken Physics class, he would have had correct answers but flunked the course because my Physics prof had ZERO tolerance for over-specified answers.
