A little off-topic, but may possibly be of some use.
If you have a broadband internet connection and a cd writer, you could
have a look at http://www.knoppix.org - this will give you a download for
a bootable Linux distro on a CD. Just stick the CD in your drive, reboot
and you have a fully-functioning Linux distro. Your installed O/Ses are
intact, and yo ucan access their disks as well (readonly by default, but
you can change this). Handy as a rescue disk etc. You have an option to
save your settings to a usb key (I use my Rockbox for this!) and your
settings then follow you around different PCs. If you don't have a
bootable CD drive, you can create a boot floppy which will load the CD
instead.
I know that Mandrake Linux make a distro called MandrakeMove, which is
much the same concept, but I haven't tried it (yet)
