Recap... from a blind "point of view"
>I just spoke to a friend of mine, yes, having the items in a list,be it
Files or folders, numberd would be very helpful, since we usually try
to make a logical structure in the hdd and hearing a number, in 90%
of cases would be enough. spelling would be the eicing on the cake!
> Maybe I should reconsider, introduce a
>second class of IDs for spelling letters?
what is technically the problem? that you have to enlarge the .voice file?
sorry, but I'm not a programmer.
or, would it be possible not to waste memory, and activate the function
only on demand?
>Maybe it should be on by default, but no voicefile present? So once you add
>the file, you have voice, otherwise you won't notice the feature. If the file
>is present, you can use an option to turn it off.
OK, 2 birds with one stone!
> Does it make sens to set the time? It's nowhere read, only the
>status bar shows it.
It would make sense for 2 reasons to me:
1. setting the time would be useful since the recorded files have a
time-stamp in their name.
2. as like the status bar, it would be nice, if for instance, when you read
the status bar for the battery, you could here the time as well. and, is there
a time allarm function for sighted peiple? just asking...
>For the timer settings,I'll try your recent build later tonight.
>We'd have to think about where to put that.
what about creating a menu under sound settings, called speech?
... what about the bookmarks, they would be fantastic for us who reed
our books with it! as for the folders, naming the bookmarks is not so
important, a progressive number to search for them in the bookmarklist
would be enough.
... just a comment: to me the encoding quality of the voice is even to good,
I mean: if the bitrate was lower, the frequency reduced, it would still be
understendable, and in such a system, functionality is more important than
a plesent and round voice, rockbox doesn't have to read a book, not yet!
