The lame executable is specified by the following line in the script:

  encodeApp = ScriptDir&"\lame.exe"

You could always change the path if you didn't want a copy of lame in
the same folder as the script, but it's not exactly a huge file (~300 kB
for lame.exe and lame_enc.dll).

I've updated the script version on my personal webspace as well,
including Jörg's new Lame settings, so the two versions should match,
except for my comments.

In addition to the mp3ClipGen script, which makes the talkbox clips, I
tossed a script in the zip file called mp3list.vbs. I keep a copy of
this script in my playlist folder; if you drag a music folder over the
script in your file manager it will generate (recursively) an m3u format
playlist of all the mp3's in that folder. It also just happens to filter
out files named .dirname.mp3. =P You can generate the playlists directly
on your Archos if you have it plugged in to the PC, or generate them on
the PC and just copy them over *IF* you mirror your music files on the
hard drive. The drive letter is ignored, but the rest of the path needs
to match.

I was able to play with the voice UI while driving earlier today, and it
was very nice. How hard would it be to enable speaking of .m3u and
.cfg file names, assuming that individual mp3 clips were generated,
talkbox-style? Those are about the only things left that are hard to
manage non-visually right now.
