I think the party mode is a great idea.
However even for general use its annoying that you can make a simple
mistake and your whole play list disappears.
The behavior of play as it is now:
1. clear the play list
2. add all songs in the directory to the play list
3. immediately start playing the selected song
Instead I think the behavior of play (while someone is in 'play list
building mode' anyway) should be:
1. leave the play list intact
2. add only the selected song to the current position in the play list
3. immediately start playing the selected song (the other options should
still be in the on play mode to insert or queue a song).
This would be a huge usability improvement. It would make building long
play lists directly on the archos practical. Right now its more trouble
than its worth. (When I show off my archos to friends who've used ipods
they are amazed at how difficult it is to build a good play list. To
them this is basic and obvious functionality.)
