sorry to be a pest.

"purely for testing purposes" I may soon have access to a small number of
mpeg4 files. .m4a extension on them.

Can somebody advise a tool for UNIX which can convert these to mp3?

I am considering using mplayer in dump mode to get raw .WAV, and then re-encode
but if there is a shorter path, I'd love to know.
