I found a little program (4k) that will remove this USB icon all together. I
just tried it and it works wonderfully.

The only down side is that this program will terminate after you restart
your computer, so you have to re-run it. Or do what I did, and add this
program to your start up. So in about 60 seconds, i ridded my system tray of
that annoying icon.
